I’m sad to announce that Tabrett Bethell did not win Fangoria’s Chainsaw Award in the Best Actress category. :( Rose Byrne received the most votes, Pollyanna McIntosh finished second.

Thank you to everybody who voted for Tabrett! And shame on everybody who didn’t!

And you know what? After the first few seconds, I’m not even angry, just really disappointed. Though I was expecting this. Hoped the fandom would surprise me, but since this was about Tabrett, I knew it would most likely turn out this way. If Bridget or Craig was nominated for some award, you can bet your ass the fandom would’ve done everything to help them win…

And it’s really frustrating because you can find tons of messages, comments, tweets, tags here on tumblr, stating that Tabrett/Cara was the reason they became fans. Many people would’ve stopped watching or wouldn’t have even bothered to check out the show if the producers didn’t cast her.

So, Richard and Kahlan fans can try to deny it all they want, but Tabrett/Cara was a huge part of the show and its success.  She deserves their support too.

I mean, just think about it. What’s good for Tabrett, is good for you too. If she gets an award, people and news sites will most likely mention LotS too because this show put her on the map, so to speak. And good publicity is something the SOS movement needs.

This ignorance was one of the reasons why I started the blog too. I kept asking, begging them and LotS bloggers to write about Tabrett/Cara too, not just their precious R&K/C&B.

I was seriously considering removing the Save Our Seeker link from the blog, saying “fuck this fandom if they can’t even do this for Tabrett…” But I guess that would lower me to their level. And I love Cara and the show too much to hurt the cause like that. But I think it won’t surprise anyone if I say that I’m not feeling very enthusiastic to do much more than keep the link there…

Also, screw Google Alert. I had to find out weeks (2 months? I don’t remember right now) after Fangoria announced the awards on Tab’s IMDb page that she’s nominated. Google finds all the stupid spam and crap like that, but didn’t catch this…

Granted, I propably could’ve done more, begged more people to vote… So, I have to take a part of the blame, I know that. And I apologize to Tabrett, the filmmakers and to my fellow Tab fans. :(
